About the Studio
What animation services does Chicken Fruit offer?
We’re super flexible and can work in most styles: 2D, 3D, motion graphics, character animation, explainer videos, intros, short films, adverts – (almost) anything!
Where is your studio based?
Chicken Fruit is based in London, UK, but we have worked with clients all over the world. We’re happy to Zoom you at whatever time of day fits your timezone, and can keep you updated with what we get up to on your project, even if you’re mostly asleep while we do it.
Pricing & Process
How much does an animation project cost?
This is a frustrating answer, we know, but there’s no simple answer to this: final costs depend on style, length, and complexity.
Basically, we work on a day rate system, so the longer something takes us, the more it will be. However, we’ll always provide a clear, tailored quote before production begins so you know exactly what to expect – plus, we offer discounts for charities and other good causes.
What factors affect the price of an animation?
Price depends on the length of the video, the level of detail in design, number of characters or scenes, and whether extras like voiceovers or music are required. Simple social clips are more affordable, while detailed brand films or explainer videos require more time and resources.
How long does it take to create an animation?
Projects can vary from a few days to several months.
Some simple 2D graphics for a social media video could be with you in a couple of days, while a full-scale explainer video or brand campaign requires a lot more time for storyboarding, design, and revisions.
What is your typical production process?
Our process usually goes like this:
Initial ideas: We’ll have a chat with you and make sure we understand exactly what you’re looking for.
Character designs and storyboards: We’ll mock up some sketches showing what your characters might look like and what the story beats of the animation could be.
Style frames and animatic: We’ll make style frames, still images showing the final look of the animation, and an animatic, showing basic movements and timings.
Animation: We’ll make your animation!
Sound and final delivery: If you need sound, we’ll pop that on, and send it over for final approval.
We’ll consult you at every step so you can give us feedback and make sure we’re making exactly what you want us to.
Do you require a deposit to start a project?
Nope – all we require is a contract from you, and we’ll send an invoice at the end once you’re satisfied. (Pls don’t make us regret it <3)
Creative & Technical
Can you help develop a script or storyboard for my project?
Absolutely – we love to get stuck in and help shape an idea from the very earliest stages. If you don’t quite know what you want, we’re more than happy to help you figure it out.
Do you also provide voiceovers, music, and sound effects?
We can do! While we ourselves only really do the visual stuff, we have a network of trusted sound people that we regularly work with.
What video formats and resolutions do you deliver?
Pretty much whatever you want! We’ve done anything from H264 social media videos to fbx files for games to DCPs for cinema screens. Let us know what you’ll need and we’ll make it happen.
Can you match an existing art style or brand style?
Definitely! We prefer it, if anything – doing the same thing for every animation would get boring, probably.
Do you create both short and long-form animations?
Yep. We’ve done everything from 15-frame graphics to 10-minute films, and we’re confident we could go even longer.
Working Together
How involved can clients be in the creative process?
You can be as involved as you like! Some clients prefer regular check-ins and feedback at every stage, while others would rather give us a job and come back two months later when it’s all done. Both work for us :)
What if I need revisions to the animation?
That’s fine! We’re so confident that we can get you what you want that we don’t have a limit on revisions, and we’re very clear at each stage what is easier and harder to change.
Can you handle rush projects with tight deadlines?
Look, we can’t promise to deliver a 20-minute animated film in a few weeks. But we can promise to have a chat and explore what we think is possible with the time you have.
